Privacy and cookies
BuildMap counts visits without cookies, and sets none. This page says who runs the site, what each page loads, what is kept in your browser and what happens to your email address if you join the waitlist.
Who runs it
BuildMap is made and run by Jacopo Ottaviani. For a question about this notice or about your data, get in touch on LinkedIn or WhatsApp.
Counting visits
Every page loads a small script from GoatCounter, which counts page views. It sets no cookies and keeps nothing in your browser. GoatCounter stores only totals by page and by hour or day (browser, operating system, country, language, screen width and the page that sent you), which cannot be linked to one another or to you: see its privacy policy.
No cookies
BuildMap sets no cookies and runs no analytics besides the visit count above.
Kept in your browser
If you switch between the light and dark theme, the choice is kept in local storage under
aiw-theme, so the next page opens the same way. It never leaves your browser.
Nothing else is stored.
The waitlist
The waitlist form at the foot of every page, and on buildmap.org, sends nothing until you click Join the waitlist. Then the email address you typed, the page you sent it from and the time go to Formspree, which keeps them and forwards them to Jacopo Ottaviani (Formspree's privacy policy). The address is used only to tell you when full access opens. To be taken off the list, get in touch on LinkedIn or WhatsApp. The page that thanks you is Formspree's, under its own terms.
What the pages load from other servers
- Fonts come from Google Fonts on every page, so your browser asks Google's servers for them (Google's notes on privacy).
- Satellite imagery on the map, off until you switch it on, loads from the servers of EOX.
- Hosting: the site is served by Cloudflare Pages, which receives each request your browser makes for a page (Cloudflare's privacy policy).
Each of these servers sees your IP address, as every server you connect to does. Links to LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Ko-fi and the data publishers open their own sites, under their own privacy terms.
